Summer's Back

The temperature crept up near one hundred today.  It's 84 degrees in my room with the AC on almost continuously.  I did get out and walk, and though it was hot, it felt like I was finally doing what I should be doing.

As crazy as the idea of the N2N-TCP sounded in the beginning, the closer it gets to the time to step out the more I think it really is a calling that I have to accomplish. I'm not sure where it will lead on the arc of my life, but I know that I keep getting drawn closer and closer to the idea of striking out and finishing things up a little less than half a year later.

It's not the most responsible idea that's ever crossed my mind, but at the same time it's not the most irresponsible thing I've ever done either.

We'll see where this leads, but I can feel the call growing stronger as the time shortens.  Tomorrow will be another step on the path into the unknown, and I'm looking forward to what that step will reveal.

Sometimes A Picture is Enough

It's been a tiring week. I actually accomplished quite a bit at my day job, but it's come with a cost so today a picture will be enough.

The sun setting behind College Creek was a good way to wrap up an exciting and adventurous week. I'm looking forward to tomorrow and whatever might come with the rising of that same sun.

Thursday Waning

I'm pushing pretty hard now at my day job, but walking is still getting done. Today the universe delivered on another spectacular sunrise.

I hate to admit that the quality of these postings seems to be slipping, but rest assured that the work behind the scenes is still happening.

Rory has hatched a scheme to fund our pilgrimage by volunteering to be the subjects of medical experiments along the way. It's really not as crazy as it might sound, and he's got some contacts so he's going to pursue the enterprise a bit. I told him I was all in, so we'll see where it all goes.

Every day is a grand adventure, and I'm looking forward to what will be thrown our way tomorrow.

Groundhog Day...Except for the Eviction

We've been evicted.  Other phrases will be used, and other folks will pretend it was inevitable, but there it is...my family is being removed from our home in the interest of more worthy tenants. To say I'm disappointed would be an accurate description for this Orwellian turn of events. That said, it offered a sliver of hope for a vacation that I haven't heard pass through my chief roommate's lips for years.

The eviction also gave me permission to ditch three waterskis that I've been carrying around the country for the past eighteen years. I finally took them out of the garage and put them in a dumpster, and it felt good to be free of them. Perhaps this reaction was a bit wasteful, but at the end of the day it was the original purchase that was a bit wasteful.  Keeping them around long past their usefulness also wasted space, fuel, time, and raised my sense of anxiety unnecessarily. They are finally gone, and it's because someone has decided that someone else is a better class of client for the house we've somewhat happily occupied for the better part of three years.

One thing the eviction did not change was the sunrise.

The liquid gold on the river still spilled out over the horizon just like it will again tomorrow. It was a bit cloudy this evening, but the sunrise will happen tomorrow as sure as it's happened for millennia, and with any manner of luck and planning I'll be in a place to enjoy it.  I hope that the overcast cooperates, but even if I can't see this glorious unfolding it will happen with certainty.

I don't know what lies around the corner in terms of our next spot to live, but I know that the adventure will start tomorrow, and I'm looking forward to opening this new chapter in my life.

New Beginnings

Someone I ran across this weekend suggested that I start each day off with some meditation. It's been my habit to start each day off with some social media gossip browsing, and I've noticed of late that habit has a tendency to grow over time. I took up the meditation suggestion, and it's early in the experiment, but I think the initial results indicate a potentially positive direction.

I'll give it another round tomorrow, but starting the day that way seemed to put me in a mindset where I was more open to taking a slightly different direction and finding myself with the sunrise rowing practice above cross my path. Perhaps it was just luck of the draw, but I don't think so. I'm beginning to believe that if you reach out to the universe, the great powers that fuel the race of the planets often reach back.

Some items that have been percolating for awhile should start making some progress toward closure tomorrow. Today, I'm practicing letting the outcome of those discussions fall where they might. I've done my best, and I've not harmed anyone as far as I know. All that's left is to live out the adventure as it presents itself in the morning...or maybe the afternoon.  Until then...Cheers.

Weekend Wrap-up

I got some much needed rest this weekend. Both Friday and Saturday, I went out, captured some thoughts and ideas to put out into the ether, took some pictures, and when it came time to sit down and put the words to the page, I fell asleep instead.  Two days in a row.  Thank goodness.

I feel better right now than I've felt in a long time.  I've kept up the daily practices, and I'm in a much better spot when it comes to rest. I've also identified some habits that need a little modification, so I'm going to work on those over the next several days as well.

This was the lead up to the weekend that I didn't post Friday. Really a pretty good way to kick things off.

Sunday Sunset - College Creek - Annapolis, MD
This sunset was how I wrapped up my walk this evening. In between, every moment was a blessing that measured up to the bookends that the universe put around them. I enter next week rested, and I'm looking forward to the adventure that's bound to unfold starting with tomorrow.
